#1 James Coen was born on the 7th March 1881 at Annaghbeg, Roscommon in Eire to Michael and Catherine Cone. According to the birth certificate, his father, was a farmer. His mother recorded her signature as across showing that she was unable to write.
#2 He married Olivia Neary on the 21st September 1908 at the Roman Catholic Church at Kilglass, Rosskey, Strokestown, Roscommon and was full age (27). He was a farmer and Olivia was the daughter of a farmer. At the time of the wedding, James lived in Annabeg while Olivia lived with her mother. James father is recorded as Michael and Olivia's as Patrick. Both were farmers. Both were able to sign the marriage certificate. The ceremony was witnessed by Mary Neary.
#3James Coen went to the US more than once and lastly with Mary to work. The plan was to send money home and eventually to bring the family to the US. In the meantime, Olivia Neary Coen got sick and died, so James returned to Ireland and Mary stayed in Rhode Island with cousins.
