#1After Olivia died in 1926, Paddie + Robbie stayed on the farm to help out, Olive took care of the younger children Celia + Kathleen who attended school (in Strokestown?) and Helena who suffered with congenital talipes equinovarus (CTEV) was sent to live at age 6 in the convent school (Saints Peter + Paul) in Athlone.

ReplyDeleteMy mother's maiden name was Coen,(Mary, and nicknamed 'Ciss'' 1917-1985) Her father was John Coen. They came from Kilvindoney, Hollymount, Co Mayo.My brother and I were both born with CTEV, which was corrected shortly after birth.
